How Senator Ned Nwoko Changed My Life Through His Scholarship

Peter Obi Explains Exit from ADC

Founded by the esteemed Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Senator Ned Nwoko, the Sports University of Nigeria is dedicated to nurturing the talents of the youth, providing them with environment where students can thrive academically and athletically, forging a new path for future generations of African scholars and athletes.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nduka Uraih, addressed the students with heartfelt words of encouragement. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your academic lives. This university was built with you in mind. It is your dedication, hard work, and commitment that will ensure that this institution remains a beacon of excellence in Nigeria and Africa,” Prof. Uraih stated.

He went on to emphasize the importance of diligent study and personal responsibility, urging the students to leverage the opportunities provided by the university. “We have worked tirelessly to create a conducive learning environment for you, but it is up to you to make the most of it. Your parents, your families, and your communities expect you to succeed. Never forget that you are representing not just yourselves, but the future of African education,” Prof. Uraih said.

As Prof. Uraih concluded his address, he left the students with a parting thought: “Your journey starts today, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Work hard, stay focused, and never forget the dreams that brought you here.”

As the students embark on this exciting journey, there is a renewed sense of optimism in the air. The university’s efforts to subsidize education make it more accessible to millions of Nigerian youths, giving them a chance at a brighter future. The atmosphere at the ceremony was one of pure joy, as the students celebrated their admission into an institution that promises to shape their futures in profound ways.

Last year, the university made headlines when the Founder Senator Ned Nwoko offered scholarships to some of the most promising students. The scholarships were part of his broader strategy to ensure that education remains accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status. The initiative has been a game-changer for many, providing students who might not have had the financial means to attend university with the chance to pursue their dreams.

In his remarks, Senator Ned Nwoko, the Founder/Chancellor of the university, reaffirmed his commitment to the institution and the importance of education in shaping Africa’s future. “When I founded this university, I envisioned a place where young minds could grow, not just in academics, but in sports, leadership, and character. We are here today to see the fruits of that vision come to life,” Nwoko said.

“To our newly matriculated students, welcome to a university built for excellence! Stay dedicated, stay disciplined, and seize this opportunity to shape your future. The journey to greatness begins now!, he added.

“As Founder and Chancellor, I am proud to see this vision come to life—an institution where young talents seamlessly balance academics with professional sports training, developing holistically as both scholars and athletes. Our goal is to nurture future champions and intellectuals who will excel on the global stage,” he stated.

Senator Nwoko reiterated that the university aims to cultivate future champions and thought leaders who will excel in sports while making significant societal contributions on a global scale.

The Sports University of Nigeria stands as a groundbreaking achievement, especially in the context of Africa’s education system. As the first university of its kind on the continent, the institution is designed to nurture the potential of students who are both academically inclined and passionate about sports. The university has quickly become a symbol of hope for thousands of Nigerian youths.
