Naja’atu Mohammed: ‘Kashim Shettima cannot be trusted, he has been linked with terrorism’

The presidential bid of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to be surrounded by heavy controversies as the former Presidential Campaign Council Director for the Civil Society Organisation of the APC, Naja’atu Mohammed, opens more cans of worms.

Naja’atu who has been vocal in recent time, again dropped a bombshell, insisting that the vice-presidential candidate of the APC, Kashim Shettima cannot be trusted because he has been linked with funding terrorism.

Naja’atu alleged in an Arise TV interview that the notorious terrorist Kabiru Sokoto who was behind the catholic bombings in Abuja was arrested in the house of Kashim Shettima by DSS after the directives from Former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Kabiru Sokoto (Original name Kabiru Umar Abubakar Dikko) was convicted by the court for being the mastermind of the Christmas Day bombing of the St Theresa Roman Catholic Church on 25 December 2011 in Madalla, Niger State. A total of 37 worshippers were killed in that single incident in Niegr state

Speaking further, Naja’atu alleged that terrorism thrived during the era of Kashim Shettima as Governor. And that despite all the advise from other governors on how to solve the problem, Shettima didn’t heed to any of the advice.

She said, “Nigerians should be focused; we have a very serious problem. Nigeria is on the brink, especially as it concerns security. You must have an enabling environment in other to do anything so you cannot take someone that is virtually senile and another person that has been associated on several occasions with funding terrorism that is Kashim Shettima.

“Kashim Shettima, we should not forget Kabiru Sokoto was one of the most wanted terrorists and he was found and arrested in his house. Let us understand and let us not forget this terrorism, this banditry, this carnage is not just happening by mistake; it’s a multi-billion-dollar industry, a multi-billion industry because it takes a lot of money on the defence budget, it has a lot to do with the sale of drugs, it has a lot to do with mining and illegal bunkering and illegal and illicit mining.

“And look at the areas that are affected by it for instance, the northeast, where you have the blue diamond that is a strategic mineral, you have oil at the Chad Basin that is been exploited right now illegally. You have Zamfara, if you go to Zamfara, Zamfara has more gold than Ghana. Zamfara’s Gold is being traded in Dubai and other parts of the country.

“There is a market called Nigerian gold in Dubai, go and check. So who is doing this mining? Most times there are the governor, the people in power in connivance with foreign machinery.

She alleged further that every container that comes from China ends up in Zamfara. “You know why? because in Zamfara, the soil in the state has all the strategic minerals you can think of.

“So they need to displace the people to allow them to continue their mining. These people have been severely accused of harbouring terrorists, even recently.

“Why should Shettima be visiting, along with his governance and making solidarity with a police officer that has been tried for drug trafficking? why?”
