Governor Mbah champions digital governance — Says Commissioner for Technology

Lagos, NIGERIA — At the 2024 Nigeria eGovernment Summit held in Lagos, Engr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, conveyed the vision of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a digitally transformed governance framework.

The summit, themed “Transforming Governance with Technology for Improved Economy,” highlighted the urgent need for technology integration in public service.

In a compelling keynote address, the Commissioner highlighted Governor Mbah’s unwavering commitment to utilizing eGovernment initiatives to transform public administration.

He emphasized that the governor views technological integration as essential for enhancing efficiency, transparency, and building citizen trust in governmental processes.

“Governor Mbah firmly believes that the future of governance lies in the adoption of technology, which can significantly improve service delivery and foster accountability,” Ezeh stated. This initiative aims to streamline operations and make government services more accessible to the public, ultimately setting a precedent for modern governance.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging participants to collaborate on developing a cohesive framework for eGovernment in Nigeria. The Honorable Commissioner reiterated the governor’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for positive change, stating, “As we move forward, it is imperative that we embrace innovation to enhance governance and service delivery in our communities.”

The event gathered a diverse assembly of stakeholders, including government officials, tech industry leaders, and private sector representatives, all focused on the challenges and opportunities presented by digital governance. Discussions ranged from data analytics in policymaking to the critical importance of cybersecurity in protecting sensitive government information.

One of the highlights of the summit was a series of panel discussions showcasing successful eGovernment initiatives from across Nigeria and beyond. Engr Ezeh participated in these discussions, providing insights into how innovative solutions can drive economic growth and increase citizen engagement.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with the challenges of governance, the discussions at the summit marked a significant step towards a more digitized and responsive public administration. The momentum generated at the event is expected to influence policy directions and foster an environment conducive to innovation in governance.
