Enugu Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Ezeh to Bury Mother-in-Law April 25

The Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, will lay his mother-in-law, Late Mrs. Christiana Chiuba, to rest on April 25, 2026, following her passing a few weeks ago at the age of 87.

Late Mrs. Chiuba, née Onwuachuma, hailed from the family of Mr. Stephen Chiuba Onyejielem in Umuegbe Amaokpara, Nkwerre Local Government Area, Imo State. She is survived by children, grandchildren and extended family members, including her daughter, Barrister Princess Lina Onyekachi Ezeh (PhD), wife of the Enugu commissioner.

According to a funeral programme released by the family, activities will commence on Friday, April 24, 2026, with a wake-keep service at St. Matthew Anglican Church, Amaokpara, also in Nkwerre Local Government Area.

Proceedings for the final rites will continue the following day, Saturday, April 25. The body of the deceased is scheduled to depart the Joint Hospital, Amaigbo, at 8:00 a.m., en route to her father’s compound in Umungume, Umuegbe Amaokpara. This will be followed by a lying-in-state at 10:00 a.m. at the residence of her late husband, Mr. Stephen Onyejielem.

A funeral service is billed for 10:30 a.m. at Amaokpara Central School and will be officiated by St. Matthew Anglican Church. Thereafter, her remains will be taken to her husband’s compound for interment at 12:00 noon.

The family disclosed that funeral ceremonies and condolence visits will continue after the interment, providing an opportunity for sympathisers, friends and well-wishers to pay their last respects and support the bereaved family.

Late Mrs. Chiuba is remembered as a devoted Christian, loving mother and respected matriarch. Her life was characterised by humility, selfless service and a strong commitment to family values and community development.
