Senior civil servants, labour executives and community leaders gathered in Asaba, Delta State, to join Dr Bolum Nwachukwu in celebrating his birthday, marking the occasion with tributes that reflected his growing influence within Nigeria’s public sector and organised labour movement.
The event combined celebration with recognition of a career defined by governance oversight, structured negotiation and institutional reform. Dr Nwachukwu currently serves as National Internal Auditor of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), a key public sector union representing senior government employees across the country. In that role, he is responsible for financial compliance and internal accountability — functions increasingly critical in an era of public scrutiny and reform.

Among those who joined the celebration was the Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Dr Isaac Akpoveta, accompanied by senior members of the commission.
Dr Oke Idawene, National Convener of the Integrity Group, described the celebrant as “a disciplined, principled and result-driven leader” whose contribution has strengthened transparency within union administration. He noted that Dr Nwachukwu’s approach blends technical competence with calm leadership, qualities that have positioned him as a respected voice in both labour and policy discussions.
In their respective goodwill messages, Trade Union Congress (TUC) Delta State Council Chairman, Comrade Wilson Asekutu, and Delta State ASCSN Chairman, Comrade Henry Okafor, poured encomium on Dr Nwachukwu for his steadfastness and consistency as a labour leader. They recounted his record while leading both unions, pointing to successful negotiations on improved welfare packages, enhanced salary frameworks and stronger collective bargaining structures.
According to them, his tenure was marked by resilience during periods of economic uncertainty, when public sector wage pressures and fiscal constraints tested labour–government relations. They credited him with promoting dialogue over disruption and fostering unity within union ranks at times when division could easily have weakened collective strength.
As immediate past Chairman of the TUC in Delta State, Dr Nwachukwu played a prominent role in negotiations affecting thousands of civil servants. Engagements with state authorities led to measurable improvements in welfare provisions and working conditions. Observers note that his structured and pragmatic negotiation style contributed to a more stable industrial relations climate — an important factor for public administration efficiency and investor confidence.
Earlier, during his tenure as Delta State Chairman of the ASCSN, he championed capacity-building initiatives aimed at professionalising the civil service workforce. Training workshops, policy briefings and ethical awareness programmes formed part of a broader effort to strengthen internal governance and enhance service delivery standards.
Beyond union responsibilities, Dr Nwachukwu remains active in community development initiatives, supporting programmes in education access, healthcare outreach and youth empowerment. Associates say this broader engagement reflects his belief that leadership must extend beyond institutional mandates to social impact.
Speakers at the celebration described his career as defined by integrity, discipline and long-term vision. For many in attendance, the birthday gathering was not only a personal milestone but also recognition of a leader whose influence continues to shape labour governance, institutional accountability and public sector reform in Delta State and across Nigeria.
