Founder of Cutix Plc, Ajulu Uzodike dies in USA

The founder of Cutix Plc and and a foremost Anambra State industrialist and billionaire, Chief Engr. Gilbert Ajulu Uzodike (Oziuzo Nnewi) is dead, family announced.

The renowned engineer who was 75-years-old died yesterday at about 3:20pm in the United States of America few days after he was admitted for the treatment.

Engr. Uzodike was born on March 25, 1949 to the family of Engr. G. M. Uzodike in Ndi-Ogbe, Otolo, Nnewi.

He attended College of the Immaculate Conception in Enugu, where he obtained his O-Levels in 1966 and University of Lagos where he graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, in 1974. He obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1977.

Prior to the establishment of Cutix Plc in 1982, Uzodike worked briefly with Raychem Corporation, an American military wire and accessories company.

Cutix Plc is one of the few early companies in Nigeria to be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, till date.

He pioneered the affairs of Cutix Plc (as the CEO and the board chairman in different periods) till in 2011 when he retired from active service of the Company, and took up the role of elder statesman for the Company..

Apart from Cutix Plc, Uzodike, in 1982, founded Adswitch Plc, manufacturers of electric switchgear, The company is quoted on the 2nd tier of the NSE, and he was the Chairman until 2004.

In 1990, he founded Ugora Limited, a cosmetics company and Conv-Aj Events Centre, Nnewi. He was also the founder and principal consultant at Ajulu & Co. Management Consultants.

He was the Chairman of the Anambra State Security Trust Fund; Member, Governing Council of the Anambra State University; a former Chairman of the Anambra/Enugu Branch of the Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria (MAN) and a former Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nnewi branch.

Dr Uzodike was married to Barr A.O. Uzodike, with whom he had six children. He spends his spare time speaking at seminars, writing high-impact papers and raising funds for his many philanthropic projects.
