Abuja, NIGERIA – The Director General of the Taskforce and Monitoring of the Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators (COMTOA) in Delta State, Chief Uchenna Okafor, has extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, following the Governor’s recent recognition as Governor of the Year by Vanguard Newspaper.

The award, which was conferred at a high-profile ceremony in Lagos, is widely seen as a mark of exceptional leadership and an acknowledgement of the Governor’s distinguished record in public service. Chief Okafor, in a statement issued from Asaba, described the honour as “an eloquent testament to the strength of character, the depth of vision, and the unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people that His Excellency has brought to bear on the affairs of Delta State.”

“The recognition of Governor Oborevwori as Governor of the Year is not only well-deserved but also timely,” Chief Okafor stated. “In a season where governance in Nigeria is being tested on all fronts — economic, infrastructural, and social — it is most reassuring to see the exemplary leadership of His Excellency receive such a prominent national endorsement.”

He continued: “The administration of Governor Oborevwori has remained deeply rooted in the values of accountability, inclusiveness, and results-oriented governance. His MORE agenda has provided a clear and practical framework for development, touching on the most pressing needs of our time — infrastructure, education, health, youth empowerment, and security.”

Chief Okafor, who heads one of the state’s most visible grassroots enforcement agencies, remarked that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has created a stable and enabling environment for the operations of COMTOA, especially in regulating urban mobility and enhancing safety for both operators and commuters across Delta State.

“From policy to practice, the Governor has demonstrated a rare blend of decisiveness and compassion. His understanding of the everyday concerns of our people — particularly those at the lower end of the economic ladder — is evident in the policy interventions we have seen in transport, social welfare, and job creation,” Chief Okafor said.

The Director General praised the Governor’s collaborative leadership style, which he noted has fostered peace among diverse communities and encouraged synergy among government agencies. “Governor Oborevwori’s administration has embraced partnership, and that inclusive spirit is what continues to inspire confidence among the people and government functionaries alike,” he added.

Chief Okafor concluded his message by calling on all Deltans, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally in support of the Governor’s visionary agenda. “We must all continue to lend our support to His Excellency as he charts a path to a brighter, more prosperous Delta. This award is not just his — it belongs to all of us. It is a signal that Delta is on the rise.”
