In a landmark resolution, the long-standing dispute between two factions in Ashaka Community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, over the appointment of a regent has been amicably settled. The peace agreement, which concludes two years of tension, was reached during a meeting facilitated by His Imperial Majesty, Obi Dr. Gregory Nnamdi Oputa III, the traditional ruler of Aboh Kingdom.

The leaders of the warring factions—Onotu Ukwu of Ashaka, Chief Obi Agadaga, and Regent Ugom Onyesom, representing the Okpara Ukwu of Ashaka—gathered at the historic Aboh Palace to negotiate peace. Supported by security agencies and officers from the secret service, both parties agreed to put the past behind them and embrace unity for the betterment of the community.

As part of the agreement, both factions have resolved to withdraw all pending legal cases, signaling their commitment to peace, love, and collaboration for the accelerated development of Ashaka. This historic resolution is expected to foster a climate of cooperation and progress within the region.

“We have also resolved to live together in harmony as one indivisible family and allow peace to reign supreme and in an environment devoid of rancour and conflict.”
