Enugu Commissioner Dr Lawrence Ezeh Expresses Optimism About the State’s Future Under the APC

The Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, has expressed strong optimism about the future of the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his official defection to the party in alignment with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Ezeh made the announcement on Monday, stating that his decision to join the APC was based on loyalty, conviction, and a shared vision for a progressive and economically vibrant Enugu State. His move follows that of Governor Mbah, who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and formally joined the APC—a shift widely regarded as a major realignment in the Southeast political landscape.

“In alignment with the political direction and leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, I have officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Ezeh declared in a public statement.

He noted that the Governor’s defection should not be viewed merely as a political maneuver but as a reaffirmation of his unwavering commitment to good governance, infrastructural transformation, and economic progress for the people of Enugu State.

Since assuming office in 2023, Governor Mbah has been credited with launching a series of innovative policies aimed at modernizing governance, boosting economic growth, and improving the livelihoods of residents. Ezeh, who has worked closely with the Governor as a cabinet member, said these efforts have yielded measurable results and reshaped the narrative around Enugu’s development trajectory.

“His Excellency has consistently demonstrated competence, innovation, and a deep commitment to the growth of our dear state. His leadership has positioned Enugu as one of the fastest-growing subnational economies in Nigeria,” Ezeh said.]

He cited major strides in digital governance, youth empowerment, and infrastructure renewal as evidence of the administration’s impact, stressing that continuity and support for the Governor’s vision are essential for sustained progress.

“For us who have had the honour of serving closely under his administration, Dr. Peter Mbah has shown what purposeful, strategic leadership looks like. Political platforms matter less than the vision and integrity of those who lead them,” he added.

According to Ezeh, the decision to follow Governor Mbah into the APC was not made lightly. Rather, it was a calculated and principled step rooted in confidence in the Governor’s leadership and the opportunities the APC now presents for deeper federal engagement and developmental support.

“Wherever His Excellency leads, we follow with confidence and trust. My optimism about the future of Enugu under the APC is grounded in the belief that this realignment will unlock greater partnerships and resources for our state,” Ezeh said.

He concluded by pledging active participation in the APC’s activities and collaboration with stakeholders to further the progress of both Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.

“I look forward to contributing actively to this new political chapter, working hand-in-hand with party members, leaders, and stakeholders to advance the collective vision for a greater Enugu,” he stated.

Recall that in 2019, Prince Ezeh was the Enugu East Senatorial candidate of the APC, where he played a pivotal role in uplifting the party’s presence in Enugu through a momentum-driven campaign train that shocked the then PDP-led government and other political parties in the state. He returned to PDP on December 2, 2019.
