Delta North Survey Group Rejects Senator Nwoko’s Response as Empty and Irrelevant

Abuja, NIGERIA — The leadership of the Delta North Survey Group has sharply criticized Senator Ned Nwoko for his response to allegations of ineffective representation and neglect of his constituents in the Senate. In a press briefing held today in Abuja, the group’s National President, Professor Michael Okoh, expressed his frustration with the senator’s failure to address key issues outlined in the group’s recent communiqué.

Professor Okoh highlighted the dire state of infrastructure and the general economic hardship faced by the people of Delta North, asserting that Senator Nwoko had yet again failed to address these critical concerns. He accused the senator of engaging in what he described as a “wild goose chase,” deflecting attention from the real issues at hand.

The group also criticized Senator Nwoko’s spokespersons, Chris Okobah and Miss Gloria Okolugboh, for what they described as defending the indefensible. According to Okoh, the pair had failed in their responsibilities as citizens of Delta North, choosing to mislead the public rather than confront the senator’s record. He described their defense of Nwoko as “wishy-washy, namby-pamby, hollow, and vague,” accusing them of deliberately misrepresenting the group’s aims.

Professor Okoh challenged Senator Nwoko to present concrete, verifiable facts to back up his claims of success, rather than relying on vague statistics. He called on the senator to publicly disclose a list of beneficiaries of his claimed empowerment and scholarship programs in Delta North, broken down by local government area, with clear criteria for selection.

The group further criticized Dr. Okobah and Miss Okolugboh for acting as “attack dogs” on behalf of the senator. Okoh claimed that their actions had tarnished the integrity of Dr. Okobah, a well-respected figure acknowledged globally for his achievements. He also cautioned Miss Okolugboh to avoid making inflammatory statements about political leaders in the region, reminding her that many of those she criticized were esteemed statesmen who had served the public with distinction.

Professor Okoh condemned the practice of creating false narratives about divisions within the Delta North political landscape for the benefit of Senator Nwoko’s personal interests. He emphasized that the Delta North Survey Group was committed to promoting transparency and accountability, with a focus on the collective interests of the Anioma people.

He further challenged Dr. Okobah and Miss Okolugboh to publicly reflect on whether they had experienced any real improvement in terms of empowerment in their roles as spokespersons for Senator Nwoko, urging them to speak frankly and “call a spade a spade.”

The group reiterated its commitment to holding all public officials accountable, regardless of political affiliation, and warned that it would not be deterred in its efforts to address the pressing issues affecting the Anioma community. The group called on Senator Nwoko to take immediate action to demonstrate his commitment to his constituents or risk further alienating the people who entrusted him with their vote.
