The Director General of the Taskforce and Monitoring of the Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association (COMTOA) in Delta State, Chief Uchenna Okafor, on Monday hosted Mr. Galen Wang, a Chinese industrialist and business representative of the renowned electric vehicle company, TankVolt.

The meeting, which took place in Asaba, was described as a friendly visit aimed at strengthening personal ties and exploring potential avenues for business collaboration. Chief Okafor, who warmly received Mr. Wang, praised the growing relationship between Delta State and international investors, particularly in the green mobility sector.Mr. Wang, who represents TankVolt—a leading Chinese manufacturer of innovative electric three-wheelers—explained that his visit was both exploratory and cordial. He spoke about TankVolt’s vision for Africa and the suitability of its electric tricycles, popularly known as Keke, for the Nigerian market.“Our vehicles offer lower operating costs, require less maintenance, and come with a reliable battery swap system that keeps them on the road longer,” he said. “This not only supports a better work-life balance for operators but also promotes business growth and sustainability.”He noted that TankVolt aims to lead the continent’s transition to sustainable mobility through cutting-edge technology and comprehensive service networks. “We are dedicated to building intelligent electric vehicle and energy service ecosystems that help partners across Africa unlock the full potential of electric mobility,” Mr. Wang added.Chief Okafor, in his response, described Delta State as a fertile ground for investment, highlighting the efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in fostering an investor-friendly environment. He said the State Government is ready to support innovative companies like TankVolt seeking to expand operations into the region.“The Governor has done a lot to ensure Delta is attractive to multinationals,” Chief Okafor said. “We believe a company like TankVolt can thrive here and contribute to job creation, environmental sustainability, and economic development.”He thanked Mr. Wang for his interest in the state and described him as “a true friend of Delta,” expressing confidence that their meeting would mark the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship. While no official agreement was signed during the visit, sources close to the delegation indicated that further discussions would be held in the coming weeks. A potential partnership between COMTOA and TankVolt could pave the way for an influx of electric vehicles into the local transportation system, supporting Delta’s move toward a greener, more modern economy. The visit is seen as part of a broader effort by Delta State to court international investors in emerging technologies, particularly in renewable energy and clean transport solutions.
