Absence of Prosecution Team Stalls Proceeding on Alleged Terrorism Case at Asaba Federal High Court

The absence of the prosecution team in the alleged case of terrorism, attempt murder and malicious damage against the Iyase of Ogwashi Uku, Chief Michael Nwaukoni and four others has again stalled the trial of the case at the Federal High Court , Asaba.

Consequently, the Court, presided over by Justice Olufumilola Agbaje, adjourned the case to 23rd July, 2025 .

Before the adjournment, Counsel to the 5th defendant in the case, Chief Efe Akpofure, made an oral bail application for his client, following which Justice Agbaje said that the previous administration bail granted the 5th defendant, Chief Michael Nwaukoni be sustained till the next sitting

Justice Agbaje ordered the prosecution to serve the Defence Counsel all necessary Court processes before the next adjourned date.

She also ordered that further affidavit of the 5th defendant be served the prosecution before the next adjourned date date

Earlier, the Defence team in the case marked FHC/Asb/18C/24 had informed the Court of their readiness to go on with the case.

The accused persons, namely the National Legal Advisor of the Ogwashi – Uku Development Association ( ODA), Francis Okolie Esq, Prince Eugene Ojo Izediunor, Agidiase Youth President, John Nwona, the Secretary General of Ogwashi – Uku Development Association, Mazi Adigwe Eleumunor and the Iyase of Ogwashi – Uku, Chief Michael Nwaukoni, being the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th defendants respectively were present.

Also in Court were members of the Defence team led by Chief Efe Akpofure, SAN, Albert Akpomudje, SAN, Professor Oludayo Amokaye SAN, and Chioma Ukwuanyi among others.
